Help Center

Here to support you

What kind of Therapist are you?

I practice Integrative Therapy using a wide range of main stream approaches and techniques with the core structure based firmly in Rogerian principals using empathy, compassion, congruence, unconditional positive regard and placing the client at the centre of the therapy. I explore the client's world with the client supporting them on their journey to becoming the person they want to be.

What can you help with?

I can help with a wide variety of issues including but not limited to;

Anxiety, Stress, Anger Management, Suicide, Illness (including terminal), Bereavement and Grief (including Miscarriage, Abortion and Infant Death), Loss, Loneliness, Phobias and Fears, Social Difficulties, Friendship Issues, Addiction (including Drugs and Smoking), Phone and Techno Addiction, Harrassment, Abuse (including Physical, Sexual, Emotional and Verbal), Amputation, Disability, Relationships, Child Abuse, Trauma (including PTSD and Childhood Trauma), Attachment, Adoption, Migration and Separation.

I adhere to the National Counselling Society Code of Ethics. All information will be strictly confidential unless it conflicts with legal or ethical requirements.

How long does each therapy session take?

I offer 50 minute sessions as standard but longer bookings of 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours can be made upon request if considered beneficial.

How many sessions will I need?

More commonly my clients attend around 6 sessions but this depends on your needs.  Some client's require fewer session and others continue for longer. We will reguarly review if you would benefit from further sessions and mutually agree a short term plan based on your needs. This is your journey.

Can I block book appointments?

Initially I don't recommend block bookings until my clients are happy with how the therapy is progressing. After that I usually make bookings based on a week by week basis but will take block bookings of up to 6 six weeks at a time in some cases.  This is to allow total flexibility for my clients and doesn't force them into making commitments which may not benefit them. Therapy sessions can be booked on an ongoing basis with regular reviews to track client's progress and ensure that continuing is healthy and ethical. My client's well-being is at the very centre of my practice.

What if I can't make an appointment?

I ask for 24 hours notice when cancelling an appointment which can be made by phone, email or messaging (Facebook or text).

If you are struggling with telling me you can't or don't want to attend an appointment, please try not to worry. You don't have to give a reason for cancelling and I will respect your privacy. If I have reason to feel you may be at risk of any kind, I may contact you as part of the NCS ethics to ensure your are safe. However, this is your journey and you are in control. I really don't mind if need to step away from therapy but I am here to help and you are welcome to return in the future.

What if your style of therapy doesn't suit me?

Everyone is unique and while I endevour to help all my clients, you are free to end therapy whenever you feel it is best for you. I have a responsibility to recognise if your needs are outside my skill-set. My role is to support you on your journey and I am happy to assist in signposting you to services which may be more suitable. You are free to return at any time without judgement.
